This week saw the celebration of talent amongst our children with the main highlight of the year, the school production of Poptastic. This was the culmination of two terms work on music and drama as an ECA and many hours spent rehearsing to hone our presentation skills and ensure success.
We were treated to a talent show setting, where our children sang, danced and acted to enable ‘Charlie’, who was late for the competition and lacked self-confidence, to finally win the competition. Nearly every child from Years 2 - 6 took part. They learned their lines, practised the actions and put on a fantastic performance. We had some very talented solo performers who sang beautifully and really entered the spirit of the character with their rendition of the songs. The main characters brought humour and pace to the stage and added a spark to the performance. The children were wonderful and I hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.
I would like to thank all the Rayyan staff for helping out behind the scenes and supporting the performance. Special thanks to Ms O’Toole for props, Ms Steele and Ms Gilbert for script and drama, Mr Akhtar and Mr AJ for technical support and, of course, Mrs Lerche, who put so much into the musical elements of the performance. Thank you also to our parents who supported the teachers, helped with makeup and costumes and who brought their children to and from rehearsals. We could not do it without you.
On Saturday, 1 April we are holding a Secondary Open Day from 10.00am -1.00pm for our families to visit Madinat Khalifa and find out about our Secondary School, the curriculum expectations and enjoy a tour of the campus. Families are encouraged to visit to join in some fun activities, around a wide range of curricular areas and experience them first hand. Team members and students will be there to answer any questions you may have. It is a great opportunity for our Year 5 and 6 students and parents in particular, to find out more about our school but it is open to all year groups who are invited to attend.
Reenrolment deadline: This year there is no increase in our school fees. Reenrolment forms should be returned by Thursday, 30 March, to guarantee your child’s seat for the 2017/18 Academic Year. We cannot keep places open as we have many new applicants. Please see Lisa Dyer if you would like any further information or are unsure of your situation for next year.
We are looking forward to a calm and focused week in school next week. Please make sure your child has a good rest this weekend.
Have an enjoyable weekend.
