Next week will see the 3rd and final MIT Challenge of the year, the MaKey MaKey Hackathon. A “Hackathon” is an MIT event where groups of people come together to solve a problem.

Groups of Year 5 and 6 students will be given a MaKey MaKey, an amazing interface that allows a computer to be controlled by everyday objects. The students will be asked to solve a problem in their lives/class/school/world. Students received special training this week from our MIT expert, Simon Porter, our Director of Learning. The winning groups in each year will receive a MaKey MaKey of their own to continue their inventing at home.

For parents who are interested in seeing a MaKey MaKey in action, please check out this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rfQqh7iCcOU&t=45s

In addition, four Compass students will be travelling to MIT next week to take part in the Cambridge Science Festival, and in June four Compass International School Doha teachers will be travelling to MIT for special MIT training. Our world class collaboration with MIT, which no other school in Doha can offer, will of course continue next year.

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) is a private research university in Cambridge, Massachusetts, often cited as one of the world's most prestigious universities.
