‘99% of selling is conviction, and 10% is persuasion.’
Tuesday’s Blanket Sale was amazing!
Over 70 families opted to support this Friends of Compass event. The children had obviously spent days preparing. Toys, books, puzzles, DVDs were all carefully priced and the children had obviously considered how to set out their pitch and the spiel they would use to engage buyers. It was interesting to see the difference in the stalls. Some children had chosen to amalgamate their goods, selling items in packs or as a lucky bag. Other children had made cakes and brought along ice cream with all donations going to charity. We had dancing, singing maids and children using persuasive language at its absolute best to sell their produce. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our parents who supported this fun event and Claire, Rebecca and the FCS team for organising the sale. It was so successful that we are now planning to host a table top sale and picnic for our families in the Autumn term. The children will also have the opportunity to run their own sale again. The highest profit made by at least two of our children was QR236 with all the children selling quite a few items from their stall.
Yesterday, our Year 5 children departed for their Dubai Music Exposition. They were all very excited as they arrived yesterday wheeling in their brightly coloured cases. We hope they have a memorable learning experience. The school has now also received its final version of our Global Choir entry which features not only the Gharaffa children but children from 42 Nord Anglia schools worldwide. The children’s voices were beautifully harmonised in singing, ‘Wondrous Garden’ by Jack Bloom. Please find a moment to click on the link on our Facebook page. You will be overwhelmed!
There have been two Basketball competitions this week. The finals were held on Sunday with our children coming 6th out of 33 schools in Doha. On Tuesday our Year 5 girls Basketball team competed also coming in 6th place. Well done to all our sports teams.
Parents, if you are interested in a position as a Learning Assistant at Gharaffa, could you please hand an up to date CV into the main office. Interviews will start next week.
Could I also ask that if you haven’t managed to pay next term’s school fees that you do so immediately. Places at Gharaffa are in high demand. We have now started filling seats from outside applicants.
Have a lovely weekend.
Head of Gharaffa
