Years 1 to Year 6 were delighted to invite parents into their classrooms last week for the school’s 'Class in Action'. It was delightful to see our parents engaged in a range of activities and completely absorbed in their child’s learning. We will host this event once again next term and plan to open up the whole school for two hours so parents can gain a complete picture of their child’s academic life.
The school’s first workshop for parents will take place on Thursday, 5 October. There will be two workshops held on this day, one for Early Years parents and the other for parents with children in Year 1 and Year 2. The sessions will focus on teaching phonics and will be hands on training for parents. Following these sessions, we will be hosting Maths and English workshops for parents with older children. We will be sending out dates and times shortly.
Thank you to all our Early Years parents who attended last week’s presentation. We hope that your child has settled well into their classroom routines. Please do keep speaking to your child’s class teacher and please share any worries or concerns. It is important that we work closely with our parents to ensure that children are settled, happy and making good progress in their learning.
Last week, children from Year 3 to Year 6 congregated in the hall to record a song for peace. The song was recorded in all 3 campuses and will be shared on social media. The children’s singing was beautiful. We are looking forward to hearing the final ‘mix’.
Today, our Arabic parents met with Mrs Enam to find out more about the Arabic curriculum. We hope this was a useful session. If parents do have any further questions, please contact Mrs Enam directly. Continuing with languages, Dutch parents are invited to a meeting which will be held on Tuesday, 26 September in the evening at 7pm. This will be held at the Gharaffa Campus.
Last week, I sent out a letter to all our newly nominated Class Representatives, I am looking forward to meeting all our reps on Tuesday. Next week, the Friends of Compass (FCS) will be hosting the first coffee morning of the academic year, this will take place on Wednesday, 4 October at 7.30am, following this, Claire Smith, the school’s FCS Chairperson will be hosting her first committee meeting on Tuesday, 10 October. I’m looking forward to seeing many new faces at these events.
Have a great week.
