Last week was once again a very productive week here at Gharaffa.
It was wonderful to see so many parents at our Class Representatives meeting on Tuesday. Our representatives shared some great ideas which will be actioned shortly. Please look out for an introductory email which will be sent in the next few days. Some classes may still require a Class Representative – if you are interested in acting as a liaison between home and school, please approach your child’s teacher or Helen Stevenson, the school secretary.
On Tuesday evening, the school’s Dutch community met to find out more about this year’s curriculum. There was a fantastic turnout of parents for this event. I would like to say a big thank you to Monica Mansveld who organised and led this evening. Our Arabic department also met with Arabic parents last Monday. Thank you to all those parents who gave up their time to attend this meeting and thank you to Mrs Enaam for leading this presentation.
This week, photographers have been working alongside our teachers to capture realistic shots of the children. I think parents will be very happy with the outcome.
I would like to invite parents along to our first coffee morning of the new academic year. This will be hosted by the FCS (Friends of Compass). Claire Smith our Chairperson and Rebecca Lesley, Vice Chair will take this opportunity to introduce themselves and I’m sure lean on as many parents as possible to join our wonderful Friends of Compass team.
On Thursday, we will be holding the first of our parent workshops. At 7.30am, there will be a phonics workshop for our Early Years parents and later in the day, at 12.30pm, an English/phonics workshop for parents with children in Year 1 and Year 2. Please find the time to attend these presentations as the information given will enable parents to fully understand the school’s teaching and learning strategies.
I look forward to seeing you all at this week’s events.
Have a wonderful week.
