Our last assembly of the academic year was a celebration of a highly successful year. We were all very sad to say goodbye to some of our children who all received special cards from their class mates. We wish all our children much success and happiness in the next chapter of their school career. We also said goodbye to a small number of staff today who will be very much missed by the children and other staff members. We also hope their life’s journey is happy and rewarding.
I think you’ll agree that this year the school has become an exceptional learning community where your children’s interests and skills have been nurtured. Next academic year, we plan to build on this year’s successes and further enhance the learning experiences we offer our children.
The school has plans to further improve its facilities in the next academic year with a new adventure playground for the children and a purpose-built learning area at the front of the school. Work will begin early next year with designs already in place.
Information regarding your child’s class will be sent to parents before the school opens in September as class moves will only be finalised in August.
Please remember that the expectation is that all children are now dressed in the correct blue Compass school uniform at the start of term. Black shoes and school hats must also be worn and any hair accessories should be the school colours. Thank you for your support.
The school term starts on Wednesday, 29 August. There will be a staggered start on the first day only. Children in Year 6 are expected to arrive at 7.15am and children in Early Years to Year 5 expected to arrive at 8am. Year 6 students and staff members will help guide our families to new classrooms. The expectation after this date is that all children are lined up at 7.15am on the school playground. 7.15am is the start of the school day not 7.30am. The Qatar National Anthem will now only be played on a Sunday.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank our wonderful Friends of Compass, in particular Rebbecca Leslie for leading such a dedicated team who have organised some fantastic events this year. Our Movie Afternoon, International Picnic and Health and Fitness Morning were a fantastic success. We hope that more of our parents will join the group next year. I would also like to thank our Class Representatives who have been wonderful, supportive Gharaffa ambassadors.
I would like to end this year’s newsletter by thanking all parents for their continued kindness and support. Your children are lovely, caring individuals who are a credit to the school. I would also like to thank the wonderful Gharaffa team of staff who have worked relentlessly this year to ensure that the school is a happy, safe learning environment. We are all very proud of our success in raising standards in the school which continues to offer and further develop outstanding programmes and learning experiences. This year, our academic results were excellent across the board in all Year Groups and subject areas, confirming that our school is one of the best international schools.
Have a relaxing, fun holiday. If you are leaving the school for good I wish you the very best of luck and much happiness. I will be in touch before the start date with a few reminders and further information. We are very much looking forward to seeing our families on Wednesday, 29 August.
