Themaid News | Monday, 16 September 2019

Dear Parents,

I was delighted to welcome you to Themaid campus yesterday for our formal opening.

  • Themaid Campus Opening

It was lovely to see so many familiar faces and to meet our new families. So many parents have sent their best wishes and been incredibly understanding as we worked through the last few formalities to open the campus. Thank you for your patience - I’m sure you will agree that the extra wait was worth it. The level of safety and finishing on the building are first class as are the facilities and opportunities for your children.

The students had a tour of the school and visited all three floors of the building. We are working closely with our community partners to bring after school activities and new providers to the school. Watch out for news in the coming weeks.

The new cafeteria was definitely the most popular venue of the day and most of our students tried out a variety of hot and cold dishes. We are working with the provider to smooth out any delay in service and improve serving times. The turnaround should be quicker today. They will accept cash, this week only, and from next week, it will be card only.

The drop off system started this morning and went smoothly. Thank you to all parents for following the plan and making it so successful.

This week we will have parent welcome meetings in school, plus a class in action day for secondary. Please try to attend to share important information and choose a class parent in primary.

On Thursday morning, we will have an assembly to discuss the various Student Voice roles available in school. Students will have the opportunity to prepare a manifesto and present it to their peers. Announcements of successful candidates and post holders will be made the following week.

We will also hold a short assembly to reflect on the UNICEF Global Goal 16, about Peace. The whole school will sing for peace and unity across the world. ‘This Day of Peace’ is a song composed for the first International Day of Peace observed on September 21st in 1981.

Please look for pictures of the day on our social media links. I hope that your children had a wonderful first day at Themaid campus - the ambitious ‘Themaid pioneers!

Kind regards,

Ann Djedid

Head of Campus, Themaid
