primary teacher helping year 3 students in maths class

Angela Minervini

I have always been involved in sport from a young age and was involved in sports leadership programmes when at school, which was where I discovered my passion of working with children.

This is something that I feel is very important and is why I have been supporting the sports leaders this year to organise house competitions for other students. My main sports when growing up were gymnastics and dance; two areas that I am very keen to develop at NAS Dubai.

After graduating from Manchester Metropolitan University with a BA in Physical Education with QTS I began teaching in a school in Newton Aycliffe in County Durham. During this time I was fully involved in a range of extracurricular sports including dance, gymnastics, netball, swimming and volleyball to name a few. I have developed a keen interest in teaching and learning, particularly focusing on developing student independence.

I pride myself on forming excellent relationships with students and challenging them to be the best they can be, both in curriculum time and in extracurricular settings. I truly believe that there is something for everyone in PE and try to make all lessons enjoyable so students are motivated and therefore make progress.

I think it’s important to practise what you preach, therefore in my spare time, outside of school I enjoy keeping fit. I attend dance classes, go to the gym and go running. Music is another passion of mine; I enjoy going to gigs and live music events. I also enjoy travelling and going new places which is how I like to spend my holidays!
