Lower School Honors Veterans Day Ceremony Learn more about our Veterans Day Ceremony

On Monday, November 11th  we will gather as a whole school for the annual Veterans Day ceremony.  Students are required to wear their formal dress day uniform on Monday.  All Veterans are invited to join us at 9am in the gymnasium.

Veterans Day is an opportunity to honor and give thanks to those that have served or are serving in the military.  This day falls smack in the middle of Halloween and Thanksgiving and can often be overlooked or undervalued by schools, as the hype and excitement of the holidays can over power this special day.  At Windermere Prep, we feel it is very important to teach our students, starting with the youngest of learners, about this important day. Often times adults will describe a Veteran as someone in uniform, a soldier, or a person who lives on a military base.  Although these are true statements, it can often be too abstract for younger students who are not familiar with these things. However, Veterans are everywhere; teachers, doctors, grocery store clerks, athletes, among others and it is important to appreciate and thank them for their service.
