Middle School, a Magical Time of Growth

 

 

 

Our 7th grade “environmental ambassadors” have tilled the soil, assembled the tower gardens, and planted some seeds. While many lessons await to be learned in the garden, a brief visit reveals seeds beginning to sprout. Just like our Middle School Lakers, these seeds will experience tremendous growth. Pause on this sentiment from Cynthis Oceelli: “For a seed to achieve its greatest expression, it must come completely undone. The shell cracks, its insides come out and everything changes. To someone who doesn't understand growth, it would look like complete destruction.” Undoubtedly, this mirrors adolescent growth. To an untrained outsider, middle school growth may indeed appear manic, and with good reason. These are incredibly formative years, as adolescents experience unparalleled physical, intellectual, and emotional progress.
