Have you heard your children talk about LLT and are still wondering what it is? As much as we want teenagers to provide us with detailed explanations for the questions we ask, we know that they may not always provide complete answers. To that end, we wanted to be sure that you understood Laker Learning Time (LLT) and the role that it can play in student success. Laker Learning Time (LLT) is a period that occurs twice each week, Tuesdays and Fridays. The learning time is designed to give students opportunities during the school day to have enrichment and remediation so that the student is able to successfully navigate their classes. Additionally, the time will be used purposefully to deliver college planning and social development for our students. During LLT, students will be able to make appointments to meet with their teachers for tutoring sessions, make-up assessments, and reassessments since instruction will not take place during that period. Students are not free to roam during this period and are expected to be with their LLT teacher for the 90-minute block. The LLT is also a great time for peer tutoring to occur if established in advance with the guidance of a teacher.  Students will be able to meet with their counselors and administration as necessary. College visits will be scheduled during this time as much as possible and other convenient times for students so that they are minimally missing instruction. If students use LLT as they should, they will be free to attend after school extracurricular activities that might have otherwise provided a barrier between obtaining the help they need and the activities they participate in. Ultimately, this block has been designed for student success. Now that we are well into the school year, we can assume that students have plenty of work to keep them engaged during the LLT study halls and when they finish with assemblies.
