Alison graduated from Keele University with a 2:1 in Sociology and Criminology. She went on to complete a Primary PGCE at Manchester Metropolitan University and then began her teaching career in the North of England. Moving steadily south, she worked in KS2 in Stockport for 2 years before heading to Valencia, Spain where she worked in Year 1 as a class teacher, AfL leader and Head of Year for 3 years. She then made the exciting decision to take a sharp turn east to Shanghai, where she has thoroughly enjoyed teaching at the British International School, Puxi within the Nord Anglia Education family of schools for the last 3 years.
I really enjoy the creativity, variety and endless possibilities of the Primary classroom, which I think is even more applicable to International Schools. I firmly believe that creating a nurturing environment and building trusting relationships between a child and their teacher is the key to unlocking confidence for learning and academic success. This forms the foundation of my classroom ethos and practice within the wider school.
My experiences in Valencia and Shanghai afforded me wonderful opportunities to explore new cultures through the mediums of food, dance, music and more...all of which I cannot wait to explore in Hong Kong! I love to spend my free time travelling, reading, watching live music and trying all sorts of new things.
