  • J. Waddell

    Ms. J. Waddell

    English Teacher

    Ms. J. Waddell

Mrs Waddell began her teaching career in secondary English after completing a Bachelor of Arts in English with Spanish and a Master of Letters in Gothic Literature at the University of Stirling. After obtaining her PGDE qualification from the University of Strathclyde, she taught in Scotland for five rewarding years, gaining experience in both secondary English and Media and holding the position of Chair of Literacy. In 2012 and 2016, she also held EAL teaching positions in China; her first ventures into Asia.

Mrs Waddell believes firmly that reading and literacy is crucially important in accessing learning across the curriculum, and recognises the importance of literature in understanding the world around us. She finds it crucially important to get to know, and teach, students on an individual basis; using this knowledge to ensure challenge and enjoyment is present in all learning.

Mrs Waddell is passionate about reading and writing, particularly poetry, but is also a keen lover of the outdoors. Before moving to Hong Kong, she was a regular climber of Scottish Munros (mountains over 3,000 feet) and hopes to ‘bag’ all 282 someday. Here in Hong Kong, she enjoys hiking and sea-kayaking, as well as exploring and learning as much about Hong Kong’s cultures and traditions as possible.
