Entry Requirements

We welcome children from all walks of life to The British International School of Kuala Lumpur, given there is sufficient space and resources available to meet their academic, physical, emotional, social and behavioral needs.

An online application is needed first and then we will ask for previous school reports. Once these have been received we will ask your child to come in for an assessment. This varies on the age of your child:

Early Years

If your child will be starting with us in Early Years, we will ask you to bring him/her in for an informal play session with the other children. All children must be toilet trained and out of nappies before joining school.

Primary

If your child will be starting with us in Primary school, they will be required to take a reading, writing and maths test, set by the Primary Leadership Team.

Secondary

If your child will be starting with us in Secondary school, they will be required to take a standard assessment in line with the Centre for Evaluation and Monitoring. This includes the MIDYIS assessment for Years 7-9, the YELLIS assessment for Years 10 and 11 and the ALIS assessment for Years 12 and 13.
