Primary Home Learning 17.03.20

Dear Parents,

You will have read from Mrs Brock’s message to parents earlier that school is now closed until the start of Term 3. I would like to thank you all for your patience in allowing us the time today to prepare for your child’s online learning. Our aim during this period is to ensure that we can provide your child with excellent pastoral care and learning opportunities. We have therefore activated our Online Learning Procedures and these will start tomorrow.

Before 8.30am tomorrow and Thursday you will receive what we are calling a Daily Learning Letter from your child’s Head of Year which contains work from an interim scheme of work we prepared ready for the event of school closure. School staff will be online between the hours of 8.30am and 3:00pm to respond to parents’ queries or questions.

From Friday 20th March onwards the following work schedule will be provided:

* Please note EYFS work will encompass all 7 areas of learning from the Early Years Foundation Stage

  • Staff’s normal hours of operation for online learning will be 8:30am-3:00pm. They will be contactable during this time.

  • Parents will be sent a personal email by class teachers to check on how children are doing. Work set will be responded to by a teacher as quickly as possible but certainly within 48 hours

  • You will receive an email from your child’s Head of Year before 8.30 am each day with the Daily Learning Letter including a morning message from each teacher, details of the work set for the day, any explanations and videos and how it will be distributed.

  • This is a full programme of work which will be adapted over time: we have plans for storytelling, cooking classes and other enrichment activities.

  • The login and operational details for any learning platforms that your year group will be using have in most cases been sent home already. If not, these will be sent home this week. Staff will be available during the normal hours of operation for online learning and to assist with any issues you are having with these platforms.

  • Parents will also get a weekly Bitesize update email from me showcasing what has been going on across the school as well as any whole school, MOE or MOH announcements.

Please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any further questions or concerns.

Best wishes to you and your families.

Yours sincerely,

Mr Simon Sharp
Head of Primary
