DCIS Lionesses showed perseverance and determination in match with Gems World Academy School

The U16 Girls Football game against Gems started with the girls displaying some great passing and movement. The Lionesses were unlucky in the first 15 minutes as the referee blew the whistle when the ball hit one of our defenders on the arm and gave a harsh penalty. The penalty was struck with power but Lauren launched herself at the ball displaying an impressive save. However, at this point the opponents continued to press on and a goal was given away by the girls. Unfortunately, heads were down and the team conceded another goal just before the halftime whistle.

After a second half team talk focusing on all the positives from the first half, the girls became more daring in attack and threatened to score goals on more than a few occasions with Nikki being unlucky on her attempts. The final whistle was blown and unfortunately the second half was goalless. Great team work and perseverance in the second half that sadly did not pay off this week but no doubt it will lead the Lionesses to more wins in the future.

Lots of promise shown by the U16 Lionesses.
