Dear DCIS Parents and Guardians,

We have had a great half term here in the primary school with lots of action packed learning taking place. As well as the regular day to day activities, we have enjoyed a fun filled Book Week, which saw the children take part in a selection of activities over the week, culminating in a dress up day that saw the Leadership Team come to school dressed as cute Dalmatian puppies! Thanks to the parents for supporting the children with their costumes and to all the staff for providing some great learning activities for the children to enjoy over the week.

Our first theme based House Day was also a huge success and was well enjoyed by the children and staff. The junk creations representing the four Houses were phenomenal and I know the children were very proud of their collaborative work. It was a big job for all involved but especially for Mr. Liperis who worked particularly hard behind the scenes to pull the event together – thank you Mr. Liperis for your continued dedication.

Our primary FOBISIA team was amazing and took the sports scene by storm at our first overseas competition to Thailand. The jangle of medals was audible around school upon their return and the fact that we did not have enough space for the trophies says it all! The team trained and performed very well indeed and I understand the parent and sibling supporters cheered hard too. The PE team have given so much of their time to this success – thank you for that Ms Good, Mr. Liperis and Mr. Johnson for all you have done for the team.

As well as this, KS2 were invited to attend the Term 3 school discos, which also went down a treat. It has to be said, we have some great movers  (including the teachers!) and I know the children had a great time. A great deal of time and effort went into preparing for the event and supervising too,  thanks to the DCA for arranging this.

Children across the primary school have enjoyed some great educational visits this term too. Our inaugural Year 3 sleepover was huge success this week and I greatly enjoyed visiting the children at the venue myself and seeing them settle into their evening activities with their friends and teachers. The tents looked very cosy and the dinner was very nice indeed – thanks for inviting me along Year 3. This is a great experience for our Year 3 children and I hope it will prepare them well for their longer trip to Kota Rainforest in Year 4.

Although next half term is relatively short, we still have the annual swimming galas to look forward to; more information will follow on the dates and times for the different year groups.  We will also shortly be communicating with parents about the final parent teacher conferences of the year.

For those of you taking an overseas trip during the half term break, I do hope you have a lovely time and for those resting in Singapore I hope the weather remains dry and that you also have some quality family time together.

As ever, do let me know if you have any questions at all as I am always happy to give you a call to discuss or arrange a time to talk to you.

Thanks for your ongoing support with the primary school.

Best regards,

Ms Kara Lebihan
