DCIS took two teams to this fixture with both teams displaying signs of progress.
DCIS Team 1
Dover Court Lions 1 played GESS in their first match showing some positive signs with great passing and moving of the ball. The Lions used the space well as they got slowly accustomed to playing on a full size pitch. GESS broke early with a scrappy goal that was almost cleared from the line. The Lions added pressure in the second half and a beautiful left footed strike from Umang brought the Lions back in the game. Overall score 1-1.
The second match DCIS Lions 1 played SJI. This was a tough match and the Lions were getting used to their new positions. SJI scored two goals from long distance in the first half but the Lions pulled one back in the second scored by Victor. However it wasn't enough but the boys worked hard. Overall score 2-1
DCIS Team 2
Dover Court lions 2 kick off the new season with a tough match against GESS. Despite an industrious performance from Sid on the wing and some great shot stopping from Jung Woo in goal, the team suffered a 3-0 loss. (Jake hits the post, click here)
Match 2 saw the boys face SJI in a tense affair. With positional changes made throughout the team, players such as Felipe, Harry and Diego were allowed to shine. It was Adam McSwiney however who scored the team’s first goal of the season - a neat finish from close range.
The final match of the afternoon saw the DCIS sides pitted against each other in a ‘Lions Derby’. Both teams rose their games and, as a result, goals came thick and fast. Neat control from Harry and commanding defence from Ramiz at the back ensured that it was Mr Handley’s side who took the 3 points and secured the victory on the day. With that said, the match could’ve gone either way with DCIS Team 1 coming agonisingly close on multiple occasions.
Overall, an excellent outing for both team. The players now look forward to a short Parent Teacher Consultation break before the fixture resume in a couple of weeks.
Well played everyone!
