Having worked for the past 16 years in international schools I am always in awe of the commitment of our families to supporting the school, their peers and our students. This work adds a hugely valuable and enriching dimension to our experience as members of the Dover Court Community. As I sat with those parents who physically joined us, and those tuned in via Zoom, watching the pictures of the events supported by the DCA last year it was so familiar. My experiences were in Hong Kong, KL and Manila but the images of students, staff and families working, playing and having fun together remined me of how much I had missed international school communities. It also reminded me about the wonderful ‘additional’ opportunities our students and staff experience because of the dedication and hard work of the DCA and the team that supports their work.
This year, how we are able to help enrich the experiences we have as a community will be different. However, with the newly elected DCA team I know that the experience will be a wonderful one. In advance of this work I would like to thank all members of the newly elected team and their support group for the collective commitment to keeping this important aspect of life at Dover Court alive and kicking through the Covid-19 experience and onwards.
Today our Primary students celebrated International Day of Peace. The day is a UN initiative and a timely reminder of how we are all part of the same world. Thank you to our librarian Miss Doyle for leading sessions in the Library where the students reflected on how they can acknowledge Peace Day in their everyday lives by being kind and showing love to those around, something relevant to all of us.
