The Early Years and Infant Campus is a quality build and will be the first international school in Vietnam to earn the LOTUS Certification from the Vietnam Green Building Council (VGBC).
In order to achieve this, we have had to take into account a number of factors including:
- the efficient use of resources both inside and outside the building
- the impact of the campus on the environment
- the quality of the materials we use to furnish and decorate the inside of the building
All our furniture is being shipped from the UK by a company called ‘Community Playthings’ using our regular UK supplier ‘Equip My School’. One of the reasons we chose to use them is because their products are designed and built with a determination to be environmentally friendly. To quote their website:
‘Community Playthings products contain no substances that would be hazardous for children's health. Compared with commonly used solvent-based finishes, our clear water-borne wood finish is far safer as well as being environmentally benign.’ - Community Playthings
The products that are being used in the construction process, both outdoors and indoors, adhere to the strictest guidelines that have to be met in order to achieve the VGBC LOTUS Certification, including the lighting system, water fixtures, air conditioning system, woodwork, fittings and even the kind of environmentally friendly paint we use in each classroom. For example, our air conditioning system is fully integrated and runs beside an HRV system which ensures very clean indoor air is achieved in a very sustainable and environmentally friendly way.
In other areas of the school, our Y3, Y4, Y5 and Y6 students from the TX campus will move to the Junior Campus on Monday. We wish them well in their new environment and we can now look forward to further developing our Junior and Secondary campuses over the next few years for which we have some exciting future plans.
We look forward to the return of our Secondary students who had some wonderful experiences on their Residentials this week and hope that our IGCSE and IBDP students can relax a little after their mock examinations.
I do hope that you all have a very pleasant weekend.
