The Nord Anglia STEAM festival is a chance to develop and celebrate our skills across the science, technology, engineering, arts and math, and also demonstrate creative and innovative ways of solving real world problems.
We believe these areas will become increasingly important to the future world of our students, in particular, the ability to combine knowledge from various disciplines and bring it together in innovative ways.
After all, the biggest problems our world will face don’t care which subject you use to solve them!
The Nord Anglia STEAM festival is part of our ongoing vision for STEAM education which includes our collaboration with MIT, the world’s leading education institution for STEAM fields. With this opportunity BIS HCMC students had the chance to immerse themselves in a trans-disciplinary style of learning STEAM, and they thoroughly enjoyed it.
“It was a fun and educational event to attend. This festival helped to celebrate the partnership between NAE and MIT while we collaborated and used our learning skills to achieve group goals”, said Rosie in Year 9.

Rosie went on to describe their activities, “we started off the festival by taking part in a revised version of the famous MIT puzzle hunt and choosing from a wide variety of workshops to participate in over the three days including doggy wheelchairs, drawbot, a chemical reaction chain reaction and many more. Later in the day we were presented with puzzle boxes we had to open in order to discover the main task which was to create an animal based super suit. This was a challenging task that tested our learning skills. We worked hard over the next day to bring our costumes to completion which we presented to NISC’s secondary students. That evening a pizza party was set up for us to enjoy along with some other STEAM related activities. We were sad to leave on the final day because of the friends we had made however coming back to BIS with new skills really made the trip worth it.”
The inaugural Southeast Asia STEAM festival was a tremendous success and marked the launch of an even more exciting collaboration with another one of the world’s finest institutions.
