The programme combines in-class support and small group / 1-1 withdrawals. The teaching follows the school English curriculum, and is tailored to the language needs of each child, to boost their English progress. Here are some examples of our activities recently:
F3 have been busy developing their vocabulary and sentence building, including topics on growing plants and making pancakes! We explored a number of texts together such as ‘Little Red Riding Hood’ and ‘You Choose’. We have also been working on our phonics, blending sounds into words to help our reading and writing. This week the students all took part in the wonderful F3 Fairytale production. Great job F3 EAL students!
Year 1 EAL students have settled in well to their new environment. The students have worked hard to create interesting animal fact files, their own rhyming poems and produce a range of other texts. They have been busy learning about how to use capital letters, full stops and finger spaces correctly. The children have also played plenty of engaging speaking and listening games, too. A highlight was presenting our EAL assembly, all about our new campus. Well done Year 1 EAL students!
