Reading over the summer

'Read A New Book Month' at the Junior Campus Library

It has been an extremely busy time in the Junior campus new library! Being a brand new library there was so much to be done to make this learning space into a wonderful place for students, teachers and parents to come and read, explore, enquire, learn and enjoy.

We are very proud of the new library and very excited to show it to everyone. From Tuesday 4th September we will be fully operational and open to the students at lunch time and before and after school. We welcome parents to come and have a look around.

September is ‘Read a new book' month! The students will be introduced to new books and old books that are ‘lonely’…meaning books that do not always get noticed on the shelves. I will be reading excerpts from some of these books and have them on a special display for the month of September. The students will be encouraged to read books that they usually wouldn’t choose and ‘give them a go’! They will discover just how satisfying a new book can be!

September is also Roald Dahl’s birth month, he was born on 13th September, 1916. Roald Dahl is one of our favourite authors here at the Junior Campus so in celebration of his birthday his books will be on display in the library. During the week of 10th-14th September there will be activities taking place in the library related to celebrating the life of Roald Dahl. The students will be shown a PowerPoint presentation where they will learn more about this fantastic author’s life and excerpts from some of his books will be read.

Overall, September will be a fantastic celebration of books and reading! We look forward to seeing you all there!

Yours in books,

Ms Susan, Librarian (Junior Campus)
