Travelling is something all of the children in our unit have in common and it is just fitting that the first week back, all of them talked about their holiday trips and adventures. Their recent Easter holiday made such a huge impact that we have decided to extend it into the classroom. One child shared how much he enjoyed visiting Tokyo and spent his time in Disney Sea whilst another boy talked about his time in London to accompany his dad run the London Marathon. Apart from discussions such as these, children have shown so much interest in different forms of transport, particularly aeroplanes, and so F2 Airlines made its first flight in the classroom this week. First, we made a mind map of the airport and it’s amazing how much these young minds can offer. They shared ‘suitcases’, ‘passport’, ‘pilot’ and ‘flight crew’ and have been using this vocabulary in their play. They used all available resources such as passports and boarding tickets to support the play that is ongoing. Our aircraft is one of the best in the world and is equipped with the safest technology there is, not to mention the quality of care our flight crew bestow on every passenger. The F2 airline can fly direct to any destination you want and all you need to do is politely ask the flight attendant and the pilots.
Check out what the children in our unit have said about our role play area:
“I go to Danang.” – Tam Nhu
“I will fly to Vung Tau.” – Sebby
“The flight crew takes your bag and helps you put it up there.” – MengMeng
“The radar helps the pilot know where they are going.” - Hsiang
Who knows where else the children’s imaginations will take them?
