In Spanish this term, besides the vocabulary and grammar learning students do on a regular basis, we organised some special events such as writing postcards to Spanish learners in Thailand, competing in a Spelling Competition, practising Speaking with students in Secondary and celebrating Mexican Day of the Dead.
The Mandarin learners took part in various activities related to Moon festival, which is also celebrated in China and Malaysia, while the French students participated in several games and activities in each year group.
Last week, BIS students took part in the Language Perfect Northern Championships which ran from the 4th to the 11th of November 2020. This was an online competition in which students from more than 20 countries had been set to compete for personal and school glory. From this celebration of language learning and achievement competition, BIS came in overall 4th globally out of 217 schools. Our students were able to recap vocabulary previously learnt in the classroom, but they also had the opportunity to challenge themselves to learn new vocabulary and grammar concepts.
All the students worked very hard this term on their speaking, listening, reading and writing skills and we are very proud of their progress, as well as their enthusiasm and love for languages. We are looking forward to creating more opportunities for them to develop themselves as linguists this year.
