Mr. Zilton Salgado

Year 5 Teacher

The paths that brought me to Primary school - and BCB, as well - l were unusual. And, perhaps, for this reason, very impressive.

I started my academic training in Philosophy, and from there I started working as a secondary teacher. I used to work, then, particularly, with students on the opposite end of Primary education.

In the midst of these experiences, I remained to have a deep desire to better understand the functioning of language and the development of writing skills. For this reason, I carried on with my studies, in graduate school, with researches in language and literature. First, I studied the Portuguese language and its literature; then, the English language and its literature, too.

That was precisely the moment when I had the opportunity to come to work - after 10 years of teaching - for the first time, with the Primary school.

I can say that this - certainly - was a very accurate decision.

The dynamics, vivacity, and relevance of the experiences in primary education are incredible and fascinating.

In addition, I can say that the last three years, in which I have been working at the British College of Brazil, I have lived numerous amazing experiences, because the school is able to accommodate, in a very significant way, the best of both worlds: on the one hand, a vibrant and multicultural environment; on the other, the warmth of close relationships.

Without a doubt, the British College of Brazil has allowed me to grow as a teacher and, above all, it has enabled me to teach and, day by day, see the fruits of my work flourish in creative students that are eager to learn.
