The Primary School Library at St Andrews International School Bangkok welcomed Jonathan Camm last week. The winners of the Book Week “Design a T-shirt” competition have been announced. Children celebrated International Women’s Day and there is still time to be a part of the Bangkok Book Awards 2019.

Book Week T-Shirt Design Competition - WINNERS

Children from FS3 to Year 6 enjoyed creating their colourful designs for our Book Week ‘Design a T-shirt’ competition and we were overwhelmed with the number and quality of designs which were entered. Our theme this year was ‘Reading Around the World’ and the children really thought hard about the colour and content of their designs. We were very impressed with their work.

Choosing the two winners was a very hard decision but we are delighted to announce that those winners are:

  • EYFS/KS1: Maeya Y2
  • KS2: Maya Y3

Maeya and Maya will each receive 5 house points and their designs will now be printed on to T-shirts for each of them and the teachers to wear during Book Week. We will be sure to take some photos to share with you later.

A BIG thank you to all the children who took part and who will all be receiving 2 house points - so very well done. We had 72 entries and all the designs are now on display in the Library.

Author Visit - Jonathan Camm

We were delighted to welcome author Jonathan Camm to the Library last week. Jonathan chatted about and signed copies of, his books during break time, lunchtime and after school.

It was also World Book Day on 7 March so it was a great way for us to celebrate books and reading with Jonathan’s help. All the children had a great time and learned lots from him which they will be able to use in their own story writing.

International Women’s Day 2019 - 8 March

This year’s theme is #BalanceforBetter and we encouraged the children to think about this and to read books about famous women. We invited them to create a ‘wall of fame’ to share their thoughts about the women they admire and why.

Book Week - We Really Do NEED Your Used Books

Please let us have your donations of good quality used books for our Used Books Sale which is coming up during Book Week (25 - 29 March 2019). We have received some books already but we need lots more please as we know that many of you enjoy browsing through the boxes to see what treasures can be found.

Please bring in your books this week as the deadline for your donations is Friday 15 March.

Donations can be left in the four House boxes in front of the counter inside the Library. We will award House Points to the children for all donations received so please indicate your child’s name and house on your donations.

Many thanks for your kind support with this.

Books of the Week

This week is all about 'going on an adventure'! We have a shopping adventure for our youngest readers, a sea adventure, a fairy tale adventure and our non-fiction book is all about maps and mapping skills to make sure that no-one gets completely lost in their book and can find their way back! We hope you enjoy all our choices for this week which can be found on the counter in the Primary School Library.
