We are delighted to (virtually) welcome our music and dance Juilliard Curriculum Specialists. The IB Visual Arts Exhibition and Working Title performances were magnificent. Find out when our first ever Dance Showcase will happen, and we have a University Update that focuses on the Arts.

Visitors from Juilliard

After the excitement of last week’s excellent IB Visual Arts Exhibition and Working Title, this week we are very pleased to (virtually) welcome Brian Drye and Hilary Easton, our Juilliard Curriculum Specialists for Music and Dance, back to the High School.

Brian Drye will be holding workshops with our Orchestra, Jazz Band, Sax Ensemble and Year 10 Music GCSE students, focusing on Emotive Performance in Music, and Hilary will be teaching live Tap and Flamenco lessons to a number of KS3 classes, as well as working with our Dance Teachers in a Masterclass. I look forward to both visiting these sessions and to discussing them afterwards with the students, our teachers and Brian and Hilary.

Our next major Arts event is our first ever Dance Showcase, In Motion, being performed on the afternoons of Wednesday 7th and Thursday 8th April. Tickets are on sale now from the Accounts Window in the High School Office. As with Working Title, please book your tickets as a family group to allow for appropriate physical distancing.

Universities Update

This week’s Universities Update is also focused on the Arts, with several of the students who exhibited in our IB Visual Arts Exhibition receiving offers and acceptances from closely related courses, with many of these offers and acceptances arriving in the last few days.

As well as David’s offers and acceptances from Canadian universities, mentioned in a previous University Update, he has now received offers to study Arts and Media courses at three great US universities: Emerson College, Northeastern University and UCLA (University of California, Los Angeles).

Finn has received offers and acceptances to study Design at Parsons Paris, NABA (Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti) in Italy and Minerva Art Academy at the Hanze University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands, three excellent European Art schools.

Minnie has received an offer to study Graphic Design at the University of the Creative Arts. Minnie is still waiting to hear from Arts University Bournemouth, Glasgow School of Art and the University of the Arts London, three more highly rated UK Art schools.

Noodee has received offers and acceptances to study a range of Art and Design courses from the University of the Arts London and Parsons School of Design and Pratt Institute, both in New York - three very prestigious Art schools on either side of the Atlantic.

Ploy has received offers to study Computer Animation and Digital Arts at the University of the Creative Arts and Goldsmiths, University of London respectively, and is still waiting to hear from Falmouth University and Glasgow School of Art

Congratulations to David, Finn, Minnie, Noodee and Ploy on a fantastic set of offers and acceptances!

Two weeks ago, I announced that the total scholarships offered to Year 13 students had topped 20 million baht. In just two weeks, the total is now over 30 million baht.

As always, you can see more details about this year’s, and previous year’s, University Offers and Acceptances on our website.

Please remember that all the school's live Google Calendars can be seen via Moodle: calendar.standrews.ac.th.
