WPS Girls Soccer Wins the SSAC State Championship!

The Varsity Girls Soccer Team had an exciting week! By finishing first in their SSAC bracket, the WPS Girls Soccer Team hosted a quarterfinal match against Admiral Farragut Academy winning 4-0 with Manoela Costa scoring twice and Silvana Lopez and LeAnne Diab each adding a goal.

With the quarterfinal win, the team advanced to the SSAC State Semifinals against Legacy Charter. It ws a tough, hard fought match with the Lakers winning 3-0. Goals were scored by Bel Teixeira, Megan Ikeda, and Gaby Azambuja with assists by Silvana Lopez, Bel Teixeira, and Courtney Mogauro. Goalkeeper Sarah Hudgins recorded her 8th shut-out of the season.

The team then advanced to the SSAC State Championship game against The Master's Academy with many WPS parents and fans attending the game to cheer on the team! The match was a thriller and the back and forth battle was an intense physical battle between two great teams. It came down to the last couple of minutes with Windermere Prep bringing home the SSAC State Championship Trophy! The Final score was 2-1 with goals by Manoela Costa and Bel Teixeira scoring off assists from Gaby Azambuja and Silvana Lopez. It was an entire team effort and every player played an important role and contributed to the team's success! A huge congratulations to our Girls Soccer Team and coaches - we are so proud of you!
