Spectacular Spellers, just one facet of Laker Life

Spelling Bee
Spectacular Spellers, just one facet of Laker Life Our Middle Schoolers have been busy this week with the Spelling Bee, NWEA MAP Test, and extra-curricular activities.

The annual Windermere Prep Spelling Bee was held yesterday in the Cypress Center. Our finalists impressed us with their spelling smarts and preparedness. Congratulations to 4th grader Suvir Aylawadi, 5th grader Avni Patel, 6th graders Lucas Montalvo, Shiva Atwal, Neel Sahai, Isabela Silva, Thomas Petrongari Rosner, Henrique Petrongari Rosner, 7th graders Gloria High, Hidaya Bakeer, Crispin Caines, Kendall Rozanski, Sophie Shaik, Nattalie Merk, Lucas Golden, and 8th graders Kirah Bolanovich, Kyle Ma, Tristan Kidwell, Sophia Gegg, Parker Davis, Kaylan Patel, and Sakshi Trivedi. The 2020 Champion is Kaylan Patel and the runner-up is Isabela Silva! I wish them well as they advance to the Orange County Private School Spelling Bee on February 1st.

In addition to the Spelling Bee, our Lakers are busy! Today, they took the second installment of the NWEA MAP test, designed to measure student progress and give teachers valuable feedback to design upcoming lessons.

And as usual, our students are busy not only with academics but extra-curricular activities. The SGA is busy planning the Valentine Formal; clubs are meeting regularly; our Junior Thespians are rehearsing for State Competition; Aspire is hosting a pet supply drive; and, as winter sports reach their culmination, our Lakers are jumping into spring sports. It’s great to be a Laker! ~ Mary Beth Davies, Middle School Director
