What a HUGE success the delivery and collection of Y1 and Y2 Topic and Science packs have been; the children have been sending in some wonderful activities that they are completing at home – keep them coming. (For any parents who haven’t been able to pick them up, please go to the Guards Hut at the main gate at BIS.)
In Literacy, Year 1 have been learning how to improve their sentences by adding adjectives and conjunctions. Students have been using ‘The Three Little Pigs’ to write an alternative version called ‘The Three Little Wolves and the Big Bad Pig’. Making predictions, describing characters and planning what happens next have been the focus of their literacy skills work this week.
Investigating patterns in number and learning times tables has been the focus of maths learning this week for our Year 1 students; there has been great focus and engagement in learning the x2, x5 and x10 tables and they have used arrays to represent them pictorially.
Using the Talk4 Writing approach, Year 2 have been writing their own versions of ‘Meerkat Mail’. The students have been working hard to use their research of another animal and adding description using adjectives to describe a setting. There have been some exiting ideas and students are now developing their stories ensuring they have a clear beginning, middle and end.
Looking around the home for 3D shapes has supported they Y2 students in maths as they have been describing the properties of 3D shapes. They created 3D shapes using nets and have used EdPuzzle to check their knowledge. It has been great seeing our students engage with the tasks sent in the Learning Packs; students have been planting seeds and are excited to watch them grow as they look for signs of Spring.

As the academic year whirls by, the first term in primary school draws to a close, marking the end of a whirlwind of learning, growth, and new experiences.
As we move towards the end of term, our Primary exit points are always a great celebration of learning that has taken place over previous weeks and months.
At BIS, in addition to the excellent opportunities we are providing in the classroom, we enrich the students experiences and learning by taking them on day trips.
