Hungarian Programme. International Environment. Global Opportunities.
OUR HUNGARIAN PROGRAMME
A strong command of Hungarian language not only strengthens students’ mother tongue skills; conscious language use, advanced reading comprehension and a rich vocabulary also supports foreign language learning and overall academic achievement. BISB's Hungarian Programme is unique among other international schools in Budapest.

THE HUNGARIAN PROGRAMME AT BISB
BISB’s Hungarian Programme is unique among other international schools in Budapest.
It is based on the Hungarian National Core Curriculum (NAT), while also taking into account the specific context of an international school and the requirements of the IB Diploma programme. This approach allows students to maintain pathways into the Hungarian education system while preparing for further study within an international educational environment. Hungarian lessons are timetabled alongside other subjects and are allocated equivalent curriculum time.

The Hungarian Programme - From the Foundations to the IB Diploma
At BISB, Hungarian-speaking students also have the opportunity to study ‘Language A Hungarian’ as part of the IB Diploma Programme.
Students study significant works of Hungarian and world literature in Hungarian at an advanced level, while following a programme that meets international IB requirements.
The IB Hungarian Language A qualification corresponds to the level of an advanced-level Hungarian Literature school-leaving examination (emelt szintű érettségi) within the Hungarian education system. It can also contribute towards achieving a bilingual IB Diploma.

Hungarian beyond the classroom
At BISB, learning about Hungarian culture extends beyond the classroom. Our literary and cultural programmes, clubs, projects and educational trips give students the opportunity to engage with Hungarian literature, history and culture in meaningful, direct and memorable ways.
