Last Saturday, 19 students from Years 4-7 participated in the Bratislava Big Sing. Our students have been practising songs for this event since January, and on Saturday they joined approximately 100 students from 5 other schools in the region. The students spent the morning and early afternoon rehearsing with the event’s coordinator, Ms. Rachael Howarth. In addition to singing, there was a lot of laughter as Ms. Howarth had students act like aliens and create various sea creatures with their hands. The concert programme featured a range of songs, including the beautiful “May it Be” from The Lord of the Rings, the jazzy “Simple Melody” and the pop favourite, “I’m a Believer.” This year’s special guest performers were an acapella group from Hull University, The Humberside Six. Out of over 120 choir students, our very own Charlotte Moore in Year 5 was chosen as a soloist! She and one other student had an amazing opportunity to sing along with the Humberside Six in a featured solo section of “Black is the Colour of My True Love’s Hair.” Congratulations to all of our singers who worked so hard over the past few months and gave an absolutely outstanding performance in Bratislava!
