All the World’s a Stage for BISB!

BISB had much to celebrate at this year’s "International Schools’ Poetry Competition".

In the 10-12 category, Emily Shelley’s mellifluous tones saw her claim first prize, blowing the audience away with her scintillating performance of William Shakespeare’s ‘All the World’s a Stage’. In the same category, honourable mention must be given to Szonja Török and Marguerite Denis for their haunting performance of Seamus Heaney’s ‘Death of a Naturalist’, and Nathan Franeczek for his stellar recital of ‘The Road Not Taken’ by Robert Frost.

More success was achieved in the 13-15 category, with the dynamic performance of 'The Butterfly' (Anonymous) by Valentina Pinto and Ena Gavranovic, seeing them awarded 3rd place. However, it was Sharon Van Been who walked away with 1st prize, sending the audience into raptures with her stirring rendition of ‘A Prayer for Change’ by Linda Ori. The night was rounded off by Thomas Benko, in the 16-18 category, striking at the core of teen angst in a deeply affecting recital of ‘Birth of an Epilogue’, a poem he penned himself. We hope to see more budding poets flying the flag for BISB again next year!
