Primary Service Sewing Project

This term our Primary students have the opportunity to learn how to sew whilst making a pencil case for a child who lives in Transylvania. Our hope is for every child who gets involved, to make two pencil cases, one for a Hungarian child to start school in September and the other to be sold. The money made from selling our pencil cases will then be used to buy the contents of the pencil cases.

Many of our students are really excited to learn the art of sewing and due to the large numbers of students involved, the activity will run on Tuesday and Friday lunch times. On Tuesday we had approximately 20 students who received their needle and thread and they are already making good progress. They learnt how to thread a needle, stitch in a straight line and problem solve when something goes wrong! It's been a great start and we hope this will encourage children to find small ways to make a difference in their wider community.
