The above presentation was given to students and parents of Year 12 in the theatre last Thursday. It was part of an extensive university preparation programme provided by the school to a range of year groups.
The presentation started with an overview of the services provided by the school. These include but are not limited to: hosting of international university fairs at the school; links and support across European NAE College Counsellors and the school pre-university Enrichment Programme for those aiming at the highest level of university education. An outline of the nature and process of university applications to a worldwide range of universities in the UK, USA, Europe and the Far East was also given. Stress was laid upon the importance of making wise and realistic decisions as to university destinations so that student, course and academic demands were, like Coca-Cola, ‘in perfect harmony’. A number of options for university entry without the full IB Diploma were also shared and the evening ended with a timeline of actions for the year group so that students (and their parents) went away with a clear sense of what needs to be done, when and how.
Year 9 have been showing their green fingers/thumbs by trying to germinate cress seeds under various conditions, to see what is important for the seed growth.
