Since Wednesday 22nd April, all Year 11 students have been actively involved in a Pre-IB Induction Programme which their teachers have created and tailored especially for them.
They began with a welcome meeting led by Mr Turner and then moved straight into a session on 'The IB Learner' with Ms Eyes, which taught them some valuable skills and allowed them to reflect on their progress at BISB so far.
Over the next few days, they then experienced introductory workshops to the key elements of the IB Diploma Programme Core: the Extended Essay, CAS and Theory of Knowledge. Students took part in active group challenges such as preparing and delivering an exhibition about how objects at home relate to knowledge, and designing a CAS experience for others to take part in. A highlight of the week was the session with Ms Mann on preparation for university, in which they took exciting virtual tours of some universities!
Finally, they met with Mr Turner for a discussion about our expectations of them as Sixth Formers and role models in our wider school community, before spending an hour with Ms Eyes and Ms Ford getting their files, folders, stationery and wellbeing routines ready for their introductory Subject Programme. This also began this Wednesday and will continue throughout May.
We think that by taking part so enthusiastically in this programme, the Year 11 students will have had the best possible start in preparing for their next steps as they embark upon their IB Diploma with us in August.
