Last week, students in Year 5 had a go at bucket drumming at home to develop their rhythmic skills and to compose their own ostinato rhythms.
Students had to find a drum (bucket, box or tub) and drum sticks (wooden spoons or spatulas) and use the different sides of their bucket to imagine the different sections of a drum kit. Using some funky backing tracks, students learnt a variety of rhythms before composing and recording their own repeating ostinato idea using different sounds of their bucket drum. Have a listen to some examples from Yuxin, Ramez and Alex.
