This week, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Debate Club held a heated debate related to Global Goal 10: Reduced Inequalities. Both teams, having spent several weeks preparing, presented well-researched cases, and informed, persuasive arguments in a very close-run contest.
After much deliberation, the student judges announced the proposition team as the winners, so congratulations to the speakers: Lilla, Calliope, Emily, and Deshika in Year 9, and their support team Aryan and Peti in Year 7! Additionally, thanks and well done to everyone who took part and supported the event: the opposition team speakers (Fruszina and Karen in Year 11, and Ralf in Year 9) and support team (Izabella, Anne and Sherry in Year 11), our Sixth Form judges (Allegra in Year 12, and Anira and Jay in Year 13 ), and the Social Impact Media Team who covered the event (Annamaria and Karolin in Year 10).
Debating helps develop creative and critical thinking as well as collaboration and communication skills. The SDG Debate club meets on Tuesdays at 1.15 in B21. We will be choosing the topic of our next debate very soon. If you are interested in joining, please speak to Calliope in Year 9!
