In History lessons, Year 9 students created a gallery showing of Holocaust memorial work. Our students began their studies of the Holocaust in January to align with International Holocaust Remembrance Day and the project culminated with a showcase of their work.
Students studied key themes of the nature of the Holocaust including the gradual dehumanization of groups of people, the establishment of an authoritarian state, and the design and implementation of the murder of many millions of Jewish people and those identified as not belonging to the Nazi state that controlled Germany between 1933-45.
The memorials took many forms to commemorate this important period of modern history and the students showed remarkable reflection on both the events and concepts studied and the display of highly-impressive work. They shared their reflections by leaving comments around the pieces they particularly appreciated.
