Year 7, as part of their Cells unit, has been looking at specialised cells. These are cells that have special adaptations to do a specific job in animals and plants.
For a fun way to learn about these, the students did some research on one type of cell and drew their chosen cell on a piece of polystyrene sheet (a Shrinkle®), this was then heated in an oven for a few minutes and became more ‘cell sized’.
You can see the comparison sizes in the pictures. A lot of “wow”s and “oohs”s were heard as they were heated.

On our most recent Hungarian trip the Year 12 students had a chance to explore the 20th century art movements in Hungary and also get a glance into the life of, one of Hungary’s greatest poets, Ady Endre.
20 students in Years 5 and 6 recently took part in the Primary Maths Challenge. Nuala and Athena achieved a Gold award and Vlada achieved a Silver award. Other students earned Bronze or Participation certificates.
