On the Science notice board on the C-floor, we have an informative display about “The Chemistry of Winter Festivals”.
We have some information about a number of different celebrations from around the world – Divali, Loy Kratong, Hanukkah, The Winter Solstice, and Christmas.
One of the main parts of the display is the ‘countdown to the Christmas break’, or the Christmas Advent.
Each day, from November 20 until the end of term, we will open one of the doors and learn something new about Chemistry and Christmas.
The first five days have shown us information about Christmas Tree Aroma, Poinsettia Indicators, Mulled Wine, Mistletoe, and Candy Canes.
Each week we will show you what we have learned in case you are not able to see the display for yourself.
