On Tuesday (aka Halloween), students were welcomed to C18 by ‘Bob’, our resident skeleton, and were witness to some exciting demos. They saw, and then tried to explain, why dry ice (Solid CO2) turns indicators different colours as it dissolves in water (due to forming an acidic solution), why it can inflate a balloon on its own, and what is inside a glow-stick.
They also saw a vomiting pumpkin, which was a different type of elephants’ toothpaste experiment. Much fun, and learning of course, was had by all. There has also been a ‘Science of Halloween’ display in Science on Floor C, showing some interesting facts about Halloween related items, such as garlic, bodies, mummification, spider venom, blood, and much more.
This week the Music Department had a virtual Juilliard visit with our curriculum specialist in Music, Amy Christman. The visit was an opportunity for the Music team to have 1:1 discussion with Amy to discuss the year ahead and further ways we can continue to support our students in their Music learning through our Juilliard-Nord Anglia Performing Arts Programme.
The highlight of last week was our WINE & CHEESE evening at the charming Villa 11! Around 100 parents and also teachers came together for a delightful night of connection and indulgence, savoring lively conversations and good vibes in a warm atmosphere.
In Year 2 this term, our topic is about staying healthy. The children have learned about eating healthily, playing outside in nature, doing lots of exercise, and sleeping well.
