Science Week 2023 – It’s not fiction, it’s Scientific Prediction!
It’s Science Week and we have been enjoying practical Science across the Primary School. The Year 6 students have been doing a wonderful job running the Super Lab, giving younger children the chance to use a zip wire, crack nuts with different masses, use cantilevered arches, change variables on a large marble run, collect data on a scatter chart (How long can you blow v How far can you row) and look at how far different masses travel shot from an air cannon.
Predicting what will happen is our focus and to help, Lena and Harrison in Y6 made a daily video with Scientist Sindy to promote the power of prediction. We have also enjoyed a daily mastermind quiz created by children sending in questions with a team, led by Harry, selecting 5 questions each day. We wait to see which house has the most points with a winner declared in Mondays assembly next week.

On Tuesday evening we welcomed the BBIS Girls' Football team to play in a Festival of Football celebrating the year so far. The whole event was played in a friendly and fun environment where the girls from both teams could show off their talents that they have been working on in training sessions.
RoboCup Junior is an international educational robotics initiative that has been inspiring young students worldwide to engage with STEM subjects through hands-on robotics competitions for over 25 years.
This week in English, Year 8 shared their completed magazines in a collaborative press event. There was a lovely buzz in the classrooms, and we were very impressed with both the quality of the work produced and the professionalism with which they pitched their final products to each other and the Year 12 Muse students who came along as well.
