School trips are always an excellent experience for children. They look forward to travelling together, discovering new places, and enjoying exciting programs. However, behind-the-scenes preparation is required, especially when organising meals.
The kitchen staff begins planning weeks in advance to ensure that all necessary ingredients arrive on time and that the travelling classes receive an adequate quantity and quality of food for the entire duration of the trip. In close cooperation with the teachers, packages are prepared for each class, including sandwiches, fresh fruit, biscuits, and drinks for the day of departure.
It is essential to highlight that we provide food not only for the departure day. Depending on the class, we also strive to supply snacks and fruit for longer trips. Some groups, upon request, also receive ingredients for making pizza or fresh vegetables to support their planned activities.
Of course, we don't forget about students with special dietary needs. We prepare personalized, labelled packages for children with food allergies, carefully following individual dietary guidelines. This attention and flexibility are part of the shared care that allows every child to enjoy the trip safely and well-fed.
Understandably, parents want to provide everything for their children and often pack generous provisions out of care. However, we usually find that much of this food goes uneaten, leading to significant leftovers by the end of the day. Unfortunately, these items are often no longer reusable, resulting in food waste.
Therefore, it's enough for school trips to pack just a favourite snack or a small addition from home. The meals provided by the school are plentiful and balanced for all children.
Thank you for your thoughtfulness and cooperation in helping make school trips a rich and enjoyable experience for everyone while taking steps toward more mindful consumption and sustainability.

Year 8 Hungarian students went to a Hungarian trip to Gödöllői Királyi Kastély. We learned that Sisi and her family came to this castle in their free time to relax and hunt during fall, winter, and spring.
This spring break proved to be both busy and rewarding for British International School Budapest students, Laura Ivanka and Lizanna Ivanka, who achieved remarkable results at two major RoboCup Junior competitions.
