This spring break proved to be both busy and rewarding for British International School Budapest students, Laura Ivanka and Lizanna Ivanka, who achieved remarkable results at two major RoboCup Junior competitions.
At the Hungarian National RoboCup Junior Qualification, the siblings’ innovative project and strong teamwork earned them 1st place, a result that reflects their technical expertise, creativity, and dedication to robotics.
Shortly after their success at the national competition, the sisters travelled to Austria to take part in the RoboCup Junior Austrian Open Championship, hosted at the University of Klagenfurt and the Lakeside Science & Technology Park. Competing against top young teams from across Europe, Laura Ivanka and Lizanna Ivanka delivered another strong performance, finishing 3rd in a highly competitive international field.
Their accomplishments across both events highlight a balanced and inspiring approach to learning—combining STEM excellence, teamwork, and international collaboration. It's especially encouraging to see students so young already making a mark in fields that shape our technological future.
The Austrian competition provided an exceptional setting for innovation and creativity, with support from university leadership, tech entrepreneurs, and business professionals—many of whom once started their professional journey as RoboCup participants themselves. The atmosphere was buzzing with the kind of energy that inspires the next generation of engineers, scientists, and creators.
We’re proud of our BISB students and can’t wait to see where their passion and talent will take them next.

Last week, Year 6 performed our wonderful musical production for the parents and younger children in school. It was a play called Troy Story - it was about the Greeks and Trojans who were at war and had lots of drama.
As the academic year draws to a close, our Early Years students marked the occasion in the most joyful way possible, with Splash Day, a much-loved BISB tradition that brings together sunshine, water play, and the simple delight of being a child.
