The children have really enjoyed learning the story and it's been wonderful to observe such young children sharing the story with their friends as they've started to learn and join in with the repeated refrains.
Dear Zoo has inspired our learning in all sorts of different ways! We've taken on a role in our play acting as a zoo animal or a zoo keeper in our zoo role play area; the children have been going on a pattern hunt and looking closely at animal patterns and even trying to recreate them using different media. We’ve also been exploring all sorts of non-fiction animal books, asking questions and making comments about the photos.
During our hall time, we've been using zoo animals to get our bodies moving and to support our gross motor development - stomping like elephants, sliding around on our tummies like a slithery snake and swinging through the trees like a monkey.
It certainly has been a very successful Book Week in Pre-Nursery and Dear Zoo will continue to be one of our favourite stories!
