We had over 50 students proudly representing BSKL at the AIMS Cross Country event, showing great determination and team spirit. The week ended on a high with a frightfully spooktacular Halloween celebration day the assembly was a real treat and full of fun! This week, I am proud to shine a spotlight on one of our core values “Inclusion” and to celebrate the richness that Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging (EDIB) initiatives bring to our school. Inclusion is not simply a programme or policy, it is the lived experience of every child and adult feeling valued, heard, and seen for who they are. It’s about ensuring that every learner has the right support, opportunity, and sense of belonging to thrive both academically and personally. We are incredibly proud to share that three members of our Primary team: Ms McLellan, Mrs Stringer and Mr Antcliffe led professional learning sessions on Belonging at this week’s FOBISIA Conference. Their contribution demonstrates the thought leadership, expertise and compassion that our teachers bring to the wider international education community as well as the excellent work here at BSKL. Their sessions explored practical strategies to foster environments where every student feels recognised and connected, and where differences are celebrated as strengths. Our EDIB student leaders have also been making a remarkable impact this week as they led a series of lunchtime workshops to celebrate Black History Month. These creative sessions included designing a vibrant cityscape in the style of Jacob Lawrence and cartoon illustrations inspired by Jean-Michel Basquiat, using a template thoughtfully designed by one of our very own Year 6 students (Zi-En W). Through art, discussion, and collaboration, our student leaders are helping their peers explore identity, culture, and representation in meaningful and joyful ways. Across our classrooms, we continue to champion inclusive practices from representing diverse voices in our literature choices to ensuring learning tasks offer multiple pathways for success. Students consistently engage in reflective discussions about kindness, empathy, and how we can all help others feel that they belong. Our commitment to inclusion is not a single initiative, but a shared journey. Each day, through every conversation and learning experience, we strengthen the message that everyone belongs here. Together, we are building a community where diversity is celebrated, equity is expected, inclusion is practised, and belonging is felt by all. Have a brilliant weekend as always thanks for your continued support.
