As a passionate and experienced educator and school leader, I know and have seen the impact that experiences and opportunities outside the classroom can have on our learners and we at BSY are intent on empowering our students through these amazing experiences. We started back on campus last year with a determination to get our students physically active and emotionally nurtured as they returned from a lengthy time of online learning. House competitions, sports matches and tournaments, MUN events and Duke of Edinburgh International Award achievements went hand in hand with a nurturing pastoral system where the Form Tutors and class teachers deliver PSHE (Personal, Social and Health Education), assemblies and class discussions. We are also fortunate to have a school counsellor in the building twice a week to be a constant support for our students.
This year we have welcomed some excellent new teachers to join our incredible teaching team. We are also committed to some very exciting external trips and visits with a highlight being our participation on the Nord Anglia Snowsports Trip. Here our KS3 and KS4 students have the opportunity to travel to the beautiful Swiss alps stay in our very own chalet hotel and mix with other Nord Anglia students as we learn to ski and snowboard in the ski resort of Villars; the excitement is mounting.
Nord Anglia's global and unique collaborations with MIT in Boston and UNICEF in New York gave us the opportunity to send a teacher to MIT and a student to the United Nations in New York. You will hear more about this through our website and social media pages but suffice to say that no other school in Myanmar can offer such incredible experiences either for their staff or their students.
At BSY you really can Create your Future

‘Music is a language the whole world speaks’ – An adapted quote from the famous 19th Century Poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow that still rings true today. Music has always had an influence in every culture across the globe and seems to be intrinsically and instinctively universal.
Last year marked an exciting chapter for the British School Yangon as we launched our first MIT challenges, designed to push the boundaries of learning by encouraging students to dive deep into hands-on, collaborative problem-solving. From Early Years to Year 10, students engaged in challenges that stimulated their curiosity, sharpened their critical thinking, and connected classroom knowledge to real-world applications. What started as an initiative has now become a defining feature of our curriculum.
We are excited to share a significant milestone in our journey: The British School Yangon (BSY) has officially received accreditation from the Council of British International Schools (COBIS). This prestigious recognition highlights our unwavering commitment to delivering high-quality education that aligns with British standards.
