Taking place from 16th to 18th May 2024, the FOBISIA Safeguarding and Pastoral Care Conference, hosted by the Federation of British International Schools in Asia (FOBISIA), was held at our school this week.
Find out more about the conference in this post from our school website.
More than 110 leaders, safeguarding officers, and educational leaders from 60 premium international schools across Asia will come together at BVIS HCMC for a series of workshops and discussions spanning two days. Delegates will actively learn from each other to exchange new ideas and effective, up to date practical methods to ensure that our schools continue to provide the safest, quality learning environment for every student.
This year's theme, "Safety in Belonging," will focus upon topics such as internet safety and global citizenship, building resilient communities, promoting understanding, and equipping necessary skills to ensure that all students, teachers, staff, and parents always feel safe and connected within the school community.
Mr. Simon Higham, Principal at BVIS HCMC shared, "It is our absolute privilege to host one of the most important events in the FOBISIA Conference calendar. Keeping both our students and the wider school community safe remains (and always will remain) our number one priority across all that we do.
We are all looking forward to welcoming FOBISIA colleagues to our incredible and unique school enabling them to reflect upon their current safeguarding practices and look forward to how they can be improved and refined even further."
Mr. John Gwyn Jones, Chief Executive Officer of FOBISIA, added, “Ensuring the safety of our children is our number one priority. The FOBISIA Safeguarding Conference 2024 offers a platform to our Member Schools to encourage collaboration, share best practices, and enhance our commitment to key areas such as safer recruitment. This Conference provides an opportunity to learn from one another and celebrate the achievements of our resilient community, and share the success of extending our relationship with British International Schools Safeguarding Coalition (BISSC).
I would in particular thank the team at BVIS for their outstanding hosting of what we consider one of our most important community conferences.”
